SEO is the active practice of optimizing a web site by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic of the site receives from search engines. Some SEO uses highly specialized approach whereas some uses broad and general approach. SEO may uses different kinds of searches like image search, local search and industry specific vertical search engines.

The main motive of SEO is to understand how search engines will work and what people search for. The main work of SEO is to promote the sites at major search engines. SEO can be defined as the activity of optimizing Web pages or whole sites in order to make them more search engine-friendly.

For SEO, you have to remember one thing that if you do all the things that are necessary for your sites then it may be possible that your site not get top rating but if you do some silly mistake, this will not go unnoticed.

In many cases, it’s enough to do some generic SEO in order to get high rank in search engines like if you have good keywords then you don’t have a lot to do. But if you really want to be at the top place of search engine then you have to pay attention and also give your best efforts. Even if you plan to do some basic SEO, it is essential that you understand how search engines work and which items are most important in search engine.
